"I don't know if I like that." In the Super 8, Mitchell Starc expresses disapproval of the pre-seeding technique.

Australian speed spearhead Mitchell Starc has expressed his displeasure with the pre-seeding procedure used for the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup. For the Super Eight stage, Australia was ranked ‘B2’ because of the tournament’s pre-seeding system, even though they won all of their Group B matches with ease, including victories over England, Scotland, Namibia, and Oman.

Criticism has been directed towards the structure of the Super Eight fixtures, as group rankings are not given much weight due to the predetermined seedings. After playing two group games, Starc, who has taken just two wickets at an economy of 8.80, questioned the rationale behind the method.

“Pre-seeding raises an interesting question, in my opinion. Mitchell Starc remarked at a press conference, “I’m not sure I’m a fan of that.

In the Super Eight, Australia will play Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and India.
A scenario where three group winners might be combined in a single Super Eight group has arisen from the pre-seeding. Concerns were also expressed when India, the defending champions, was seeded as “A1” despite their group stage results.

With a five-wicket victory over Scotland, the 2021 edition champions guaranteed their Super Eight spot. With two balls remaining, the Australians led by fifty runs each from Travis Head and Marcus Stoinis as they chased 181. Australia had a perfect 4-0 record when the group stage was over.

A niggle, though, caused Starc to leave the pitch early against Oman and miss the entire match against Namibia, ruining his campaign. The 34-year-old insisted he is ready for the Super Eight stage even though he returned against Scotland and let up 31 runs in four overs.

On June 21 in Antigua, the formidable Australian will take on Bangladesh. Afghanistan came next, while India came last.
