The BCCI is considering introducing Junior Series and Player of the Match awards

The CK Nayudu Trophy, the Cooch Behar Trophy (U-19), and the Vijay Merchant Trophy (Under-16)

The age-group competitions that the BCCI organises each year consist of the U-23 tournaments for men and the U-15, U-19, and U-23 events for women.

A significant development concerning junior tournaments has surfaced after a plethora of changes were made to the senior Indian domestic cricket structure. According to a TOI report, the BCCI intends to implement Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards in all junior tournaments, beginning with the 2024–25 domestic season. Based on the agenda distributed to members, a final decision is anticipated during the BCCI’s top council meeting on June 18, as revealed by BCCI secretary Jay Shah.

As for players who had foreign passports before but gave them up for an Indian passport, the BCCI is considering providing “temporary authorisation” so that they can play local cricket. This is an example of their flexibility.

Along with a report on the North East Development Project, the apex council will be briefed on the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, which is expected to open in August. The special committee, which is headed by India head coach Rahul Dravid and chief selector Ajit Agarkar, will also finalise all changes to domestic cricket during this meeting.

Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim are the six states from the eastern corridor that have not seen as much development in cricket as Assam, Bengal, and Jharkhand. Shah had announced on May 20 the opening of a state-of-the-art indoor facility in the northeastern states of India, highlighting the BCCI’s commitment to raising the standard of cricket in the region.
