Mitchell Starc explains Josh Hazlewood's contentious remark

The world of cricket was captivated by Josh Hazlewood’s provocative statement, which he made ahead of Australia’s match against Scotland. The 33-year-old threatened to give up against Scotland in order to force England to withdraw from the current T20 World Cup, but they ultimately prevailed by a margin of five wickets.

Following Hazlewood’s remarks, there were rumours that Australia would suspend captain Mitchell Marsh if they attempted to rig the game’s outcome. Mitchell Starc believed that the narrative had been exaggerated and attributed it to the media. The 34-year-old made it clear that Australia is focused solely on winning and will not rig cricket matches.

He addressed the reporters present at his news conference following the game and remarked, “I think a throwaway line has been blown right out of proportion by you lot.”

You do not toy with mother cricket while attempting to care about other outcomes. It is our goal to win games. It’s cricket in the international league. For the following three games, it really doesn’t matter that much because England is now on the opposite side of the draw. So yeah, I think you guys really blew everything out of proportion,” he continued.

Mitchell Starc provides an update on injuries.

Against Oman, Mitchell Starc left the pitch early, and in the match against Namibia, he was granted a rest. After experiencing some discomfort, the pacer rejoined the team and let up 31 runs in four overs while facing Scotland. Starc said he felt good against Scotland and is ready for the Super 8, thus he appeared fit before the tournament.

“I experienced a cramp during the Oman game, which persisted into the England game. I got a scan, which revealed everything was fine, and I allowed it a few more days until the Namibia game, at which point I was able to resume my normal activities. I thus thought it would be better for me to focus on the first part of the tournament rather than the hectic second half,” Starc remarked.
