Mark Wood responds to Josh Hazlewood’s “knockout” comment by saying, “I’m confident they’ll play the Australian way.”

Mark Wood responds to Josh Hazlewood's "knockout" comment by saying, "I'm confident they'll play the Australian way."

There is a lot of criticism over Josh Hazlewood’s remarks regarding the Scotland match. In order to remove England from the T20 World Cup, the outstanding pacer discussed giving up to Scotland. As a result of the intentional manipulation, Australia captain Mitchell Marsh will be suspended for the next two games. Things escalated quite a bit. Later on, Pat Cummins explained that Hazlewood was merely kidding and that Australia’s goal is to win and top the group.

Mark Wood, the England pacer, has confidence that Australia will play hard against Scotland and is not concerned with Hazlewood’s remarks. The 34-year-old said he looks on the bright side and anticipates the bitter rivals will play fair.

That is, I believe, a characteristic of both being English and Australian. “To be honest, I think it was more out of respect for him, as he was stating that England has performed well against Australia recently and that they are a formidable team, so I don’t see any issues with it,” Wood stated at the pre-game press conference.

“I’m very sure they’ll play the game to the best of their abilities; that’s the Aussie way. They’ll play hard but fairly and try to win,” Mark Wood continued.

The season’s last league matchup pits Namibia against England. The Three Lions must win and hope that Australia defeats Scotland in order to advance to the next round.

In related news, England, under the captaincy of Jos Buttler, crushed Oman by eight wickets in their most recent game and will be playing with great confidence against Namibia in Antigua. If Scotland upset Australia, though, their result would be meaningless. With a perfect record, the Ritchie Berrington-led team hopes to earn positive outcomes and advance to the Super 8. But it won’t be a simple task at all.
