The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Event Technical Committee has authorised Hazratullah Zazai to take Mujeeb ur Rahman’s place in the Afghanistan team.
After Mujeeb ur Rahman was ruled out owing to an injury to his right index finger, Hazratullah—who has played 43 Twenty20 internationals—was picked as a replacement. A player cannot be formally added to the team until the Event Technical Committee has approved their replacement.
In the meantime, Afghanistan is having an incredible tournament at the Twenty20 World Cup in 2024. After defeating PNG by seven wickets, they have already advanced to the Super 8. Afghanistan and West Indies are the only unbeaten teams in their group and have one more game to play before the Super 8 starts.
