The Netherlands and Bangladesh squared off in the 27th game of the ICC T20 World Cup at the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown, St. Vincent, in an exciting affair. When Dutch pacer Vivian Kingma’s bouncer scared opener Tanzid Hasan, there was a moment of dread in the Bangladeshi camp.

Bangladesh, having been placed to bat first, was put under immediate pressure when captain Najmul Shanto was removed from the game. In an attempt to salvage the innings, Tanzid Hasan got off to a fast start. Tanzid showed his intentions as he scored 14 runs off the first four deliveries in Kingma’s third over.

But the sixth birth proved to be a breath-taking experience. A vicious bouncer was thrown by Kingma, aiming for Tanzid’s head. Tanzid closed his eyes and prepared for impact. With such velocity, the ball became stuck in his helmet’s grill, shocking everyone on the pitch.

Luckily, the protective grill absorbed the majority of the force. With the ball still lodged, Tanzid took off his helmet, clearly shaken. He didn’t have a concussion, according to the physiotherapist’s brief inquiry. Tanzid hit a defiant four off the very next ball, displaying incredible poise.

His tenacity was evident as he scored eighteen runs in that over. Bangladesh finished their innings with a commanding 159/5. Shakib Al Hasan led Bangladesh’s batting attack with a spectacular 64 off 46 balls that included nine fours. Paul van Meekeren, who claimed two wickets in his four-over performance, was the standout bowler for the Dutch.

The Netherlands needed further 61 runs in 42 balls as of the time of writing, with them at 99 for the loss of three wickets in 13 overs. At the crease, captain Scott Edwards and Sybrand Engelbrecht were batting at positions 12 and 31, respectively. The Dutch side was hoping for a decisive knock from Engelbrecht, who appeared to be in good shape.
