Rocky Flintoff, at the tender age of sixteen, has signed a professional contract with Lancashire, marking the first significant step towards carrying on his father’s legacy. With some spectacular performances for the county’s second XI this summer, including a magnificent century against Warwickshire, the teenager grabbed attention. His entry into the picture is similar to his father Andrew Flintoff’s ascent through the ranks.
Rocky Flintoff, who signed his first professional contract with his home county this week, is now in a position to make those initial moves. He said it was a dream come true for him to sign his first contract.
“I’m thrilled and delighted to have joined Lancashire on my first professional contract. “I’ve been aiming for this since I began playing cricket, so being able to sign for my home county is an incredible achievement,” Rocky stated, as cited by ESPNcricinfo.
The 16-year-old, who enrolled in the Lancashire Academy in 2023, was chosen for this week’s England Under-19 squad’s match against Sri Lanka. He has played for the second XI four times this season, scoring fifty runs against Durham and a century against Warwickshire.

From the age of eight, the batting prodigy has been a member of the Lancashire squad. He declared that he would keep up his hard work and that he enjoyed playing for the Second XI.
“It is a great honour to be able to continue representing the Red Rose because I have been a part of the club since I was eight years old. Playing for the Second XI has been a blast so far this season, and I’m excited to keep honing every element of my game,” he continued.
Rocky was also praised by Mark Chilton, Lancashire’s director of cricket performance. According to Chilton, Flintoff will need to put in a lot of effort in the upcoming years.
“He has already this season, with his performances and resolute approach for the Second XI, pleased the coaching staff. Being a sensible person, he is aware that in order to reach his full potential in the coming years, work must be done today. After spending the next several weeks away with the England U19s, we are excited to have Rocky join the professional team, the player stated.
