Ravichandran Ashwin continues to play an important part for the Indian side in the format of the Test match; but, as of late, the player has remained rather frequently out of favour in the limited-overs version of cricket.
The right-handed off-spinner has a total of 449 wickets to his name from Test matches, including as many as 30 five-wicket hauls. He is only the fifth bowler in the history of the sport to achieve this feat.
Batting that is both consistent and technically competent is one of the many characteristics of an all-rounder. The manner in which Ashwin is able to keep his composure in high-stakes circumstances is one of the things that sets him apart from other people.
In a recent interview, Ashwin was questioned about his status as an all-rounder, and the question addressed the legendary cricket player Kapil Dev. When asked how he would compare to Kapil Dev, Ashwin responded by saying that he was “golden.”
When Ashwin was asked if he expected himself to become “the most successful all-rounder after Kapil Dev,” he responded by stating that the skipper who led India to victory in the 1983 World Cup is not only a “great Indian cricketer,” but also “one of the greatest” that the world has ever seen.
“I don’t want to come across as overly modest or overly dubious. But when you pursue something in your life, you naturally want to excel at it and become the greatest at it possible, right? It is not enough to say that Kapil Dev is a brilliant Indian cricketer; he is also one of the best cricketers the rest of the world has ever seen.
And if you take up the bat and the ball, I propose that each child or kid who is picking up the ball or the bat in today’s world ought to have the goal of becoming the best in the entire world in that particular sport.
