Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2024 campaign is going horribly wrong; the squad has lost its last two games and is in danger of being eliminated.
They lost their first game to the United States of America, minnows, and their second game to the might of India. Having stated that, former Pakistan cricket team top selector Mohammad Wasim has taken a harsh stance against Imad Wasim due to the players’ performances being closely monitored.
Prior to the T20 World Cup 2024, Imad announced his retirement from international cricket. He missed the opening match due to a side strain. Nevertheless, despite failing to pick up any wickets, he played the match against India and bowled rather well. Wasim stated that Imad had been concealing his injury for a number of years and that the spinner had been dropped for the same reason during his time there.

“Reports of rib injuries have surfaced. However, for the past few years, Imad has been concealing a knee ailment. It was all false information spreading, and he was bowling in the nets. Azam Khan’s fitness is a topic we discuss frequently, but he has been dealing with the same issue for the past five years. For precisely that reason, I dropped Imad during my tenure so he could address his off-field problems and get in better shape. Wasim made this statement, as NDTV Sports reported.

Since winning the Champions Trophy in 2017, Pakistan has not taken home any ICC medals. They nearly won the 2022 T20 World Cup, but England’s tactics in Australia prevented them from doing so. In the middle of all of this, board members, coaches, and leaders in Pakistani cricket have frequently changed. Wasim emphasised that a number of coaches have previously acknowledged the escalating animosity among the team as a result of multiple players.
“I won’t name players here, but I will tell you that up to four coaches think there is a group of players that are like ‘cancer’ to the team.” This side cannot win with them on the team. “I attempted to remove them, but the team management has once more chosen to reinstate them,” he continued.
