England captain Jos Buttler disagrees with journalist before T20 World Cup 2024 game

England had a terrible World Cup in 2023 and was soundly defeated as they were eliminated from the competition. Having won the 2019 World Cup and the 2022 T20 World Cup, they were unable to live up to their position as the reigning champions. Jos Buttler, the squad’s captain, has shown conflicting feelings to the media since the team arrived in Barbados for the T20 World Cup 2024.

When the captain appeared irritated, Jos Buttler was asked if the squad would defend their previous crown. Ahead of the big tournament, the three lions recently won a series against Pakistan. Jofra Archer’s comeback strengthens both teams’ bowling arsenals. However, the team seems to be carrying around the ghosts of their previous tournament loss going into their debut game against Scotland.

“We’re not making any kind of defence. I’ve stated repeatedly that I don’t think of ourselves as the defending champs. I have only this competition on my mind. I can’t wait to do it. All I want to focus on is the team’s current success. Nope. I won’t reveal the team to you, will I? I am generally content with the work that our team is doing together. According to Inews, Buttler shot back at a reporter, “I don’t need to sit here and tell you.”

We’re attempting to avoid playing the game before it’s been played. Jos Buttler

The match between Namibia and Oman at the Kensington Oval in Barbados ended in a low-scoring draw due to the pitch’s slowness. No team was able to continuously dominate the game as it went down to the wire. Jos Buttler dispelled any preconceptions about the Kensington pitch before England faced Scotland at the same location.
“We’re attempting to avoid playing the game before it’s been played. It’s critical to avoid going into the pitch with too many preconceived notions and assuming that it will play out a certain way, Buttler said.
