Chris Wood's sportsmanship in not running out Matthew Parkinson
In the Hampshire-Kent T20 Blast 2024 encounter, Chris Wood captured hearts with a heartfelt act of sportsmanship. The batsman had taken a severe blow. Wood then decided not to run Parkinson out.

In the penultimate over of the match, Wood gave Joey Evison a full delivery, and he struck a hard ball towards the non-striker. Unfortunately, the ball went straight to Parkinson and smacked him hard. He instantly fell to the ground.

Since Parkinson was already halfway down the wicket when the ball hit him, Wood had a clear opportunity to run Parkinson out, but he chose not to.

With this gesture, he underlined the importance of having strong moral convictions and being a skilled athlete. The fact that the game was all but over also played a role in his choice to leave him in.

Regarding the game, Kent finished with a score of 165/9 after 20 overs. The best bowler, on the other hand, was Chris Wood, who claimed 2/19 in 4 overs to help restrict the opponents to a manageable score.
