Sourav Ganguly notes Gautam Gambhir's dedication and honesty as Team India's head coach

There is a push to designate Gautam Gambhir as the next head coach of the Indian squad. There were speculations that he will be named the new coach following Rahul Dravid’s departure following the 2024 Twenty20 World Cup. With his resignation as a Member of Parliament ahead of the 2024 Indian Premier League, Gambhir has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to cricket. Then, on May 26, he guided Kolkata Knight Riders to their third IPL victory.

The former opener for India has made no secret of the need for the Indian team to adopt a new strategy in order to win the ICC trophy once more. Now that Gambhir is a head coach, Sourav Ganguly, a former captain of India, has endorsed him and called him an honest and passionate man. For the uninitiated, Gambhir had, due to poor form, returned the signing bonus and resigned as captain of the Delhi Capitals midway through the season.

He is an excellent candidate since he is sincere and passionate. It is true that managing an international team—especially one as prominent as India—differes from coaching or mentoring a franchise. However, Ganguly told Rev Sportz, “I’m sure Gautam will know about it and is aware of it.

“He will undoubtedly adjust to the culture of the changing room and be able to deal with celebrities like Virat and Rohit. It goes beyond merely challenging your own ideas. He said, “I’m sure he’ll think it through and bring the changing room with him.

Pick the coach and the school carefully. Sourav Ganguly

Ganguly’s remarks against Gambhir are in response to a mysterious post he made about India’s search for a new coach. Fans speculated about who would win the job because Stephen Fleming, Ricky Ponting, and Justin Langer were among the candidates. Using social media, the former southpaw advised BCCI to make a careful selection before selecting their new coach.

The direction, unwavering training, and influence of a coach in a person’s life—both on and off the field—shape their future. So make informed decisions about the coach and the school.” In his “X” post, Sourav Ganguly wrote.
