Mushfiqur Rahim Joins 21-Member Bangladesh Tigers Program

Mushfiqur Rahim, a 37-year-old batsman and wicketkeeper from Bangladesh, has recently been added to the 21-man team for the Bangladesh Tigers Program, which is scheduled to start on Sunday, May 26.

Mushfiqur Rahim was ruled out of the subsequent two-match Test series after suffering a bruise on his right thumb while keeping wicket in the final ODI of the three-match series against Sri Lanka. He returned to cricket around a month after his break, playing for Prime Bank in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, where he amassed an outstanding 380 runs in seven games.

The Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka will host 21 players who will participate in intense training and tactical brainstorming sessions during the camp. Furthermore, it will take place in stages in other locations, such as Sylhet and Chittagong. The camp will play a crucial role in giving players a useful platform to refine their skills and strengthen their mental toughness in preparation for impending hardships.

The chief selector on Mushfiqur Rahim said, “We did not know about wife expecting child, he did not inform us about anything.”

Chief selector of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Gazi Ashraf Hossain, disclosed to reporters on Saturday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium that bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin had not told anyone that his wife was expecting a child. As so, he asked to be removed from the secondary program. He added that he would have surely played in the T20 matches against the US if he had traveled with the team to the US.

“He didn’t tell us anything, so we were unaware that the wife was expecting a child. If someone is hurt or unavailable, we are notified in advance.” “I think if he had gone, he would have fulfilled national duty and as this is a secondary program (Tigers), he requested for leave.”

In addition, Hossain clarified that six players had been chosen to practice with the white ball as backups in the event that any unanticipated events affected the roster of fifteen players. He said that Saifuddin, who would rejoin the group on June 10, has been replaced by Khaled Ahmed. Because of Jaker Ali’s minor injury worry, Anamul Haque and Nurul Hasan were selected as backup wicketkeepers.

Among the six players were also listed as Parvez Hossain Emon, Nasum Ahmed, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. In addition, he mentioned that the left-arm orthodox bowler had told them the night before that he would be jaundiced for the first four or five days.

“We have selected six individuals to serve as backups for World Cup players in the white-ball format. Because Jaker has an issue, we have selected both Anamul Haque and Sohan (Nurul Hasan). Saifuddin was retained, and Khaled has joined us. Saifuddin is anticipated to arrive on June 10. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Emon (Parvez Hossain), and Nasum Ahmed are present. Hossain said, “Last night, Nasum sent us a letter informing us that he will not be available for the first four to five days due to his jaundice.”
