Jay Shah Denies Approaching Former Aussie Cricketers for India Coach

Jay Shah denied the reports and said that there is no truth to any of these rumors and that they should not be taken seriously.

The assertion that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sought any former Australian cricket players for the prominent position of India’s head coach has been categorically refuted by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah.

The explanation follows Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer’s recent allegations that they were told about the coaching position. Langer, who is presently the head coach of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), disclosed earlier this week that he had declined an approach to coach the Indian squad, albeit he did not say from whom.

In a similar vein, Ricky Ponting, who is the head coach of the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League, revealed that he had discussed being the head coach of India but ultimately declined the opportunity for lifestyle reasons.

“Neither the BCCI nor I have made a coaching offer to any former Australian cricket player. The reports that are making the rounds in some areas of the media are entirely false. Selecting the ideal coach for our national team is an exacting and comprehensive procedure. Our goal is to find people who have advanced through the ranks and have a thorough understanding of the Indian cricket system. To really take Team India to the next level, our coach needs to be well-versed in our domestic cricket system,” he stated in a statement.

The position of Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team, held by Jay Shah, is the most distinguished of all.

He went on to emphasize how prominent the India head coach position is and how a rigorous selection procedure is involved because the squad has a large international fan base.

“The position of Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team holds the highest prestige when discussing international cricket. With unequaled support, Team India has the largest fan base in the world. This is one of the most profitable occupations in the world because of our great history and love of the game,” he continued.

“The position requires a high degree of professionalism because it involves developing some of the world’s greatest cricket players and managing a skilled player assembly line. Serving a billion fans’ dreams is an enormous privilege, and the BCCI will select the best applicant who can advance Indian cricket, he said.

Rahul Dravid, the head coach at the moment, will step down following the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies. Dravid also disclosed that he would not be resubmitting his application for the prestigious
