Virat Kohli's Double Heartbreak in 2016: WT20 and IPL Final

Star batter Virat Kohli finds himself in a difficult situation as the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season draws to a close. His main duty is to lead Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to the postseason.

With 661 runs in 13 games this season, Virat Kohli is currently the leading run scorer, and he is adamant about leading RCB to their first-ever IPL championship.

The 35-year-old recently talked about the two cricket-related heartbreaks that still bother him. The first was in the 2016 Indian Premier League, when he was the top run scorer with 973 runs, but lost heartbreakingly to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the finals and was unable to lead his team to victory.

The second incident happened at the 2016 ICC T20 World Cup in India, where Kohli scored 273 runs, making him the tournament’s top performer. Kohli was upset when India’s aspirations were dashed against the West Indies in the semi-final.

“I experienced two heartbreaks in 2016.” The WT20 came first, followed by the IPL Final. Because I was in such a position and believed I could win the WT20 for India, it took me a few days to get over the defeat, Kohli said to JioCinema.

RCB’s next game is against CSK.

Despite the losses, the former captain of the Royal Cricket Club has only become more determined. His IPL season efforts so far have been outstanding. In their final league match of the season, RCB is getting ready to take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK), with the winner determining who advances to the playoffs in the fourth slot.

In their last five games, RCB has triumphed. In order to make it to the playoffs, RCB have to defeat CSK. They must set a target that is at least eighteen runs more than what CSK can achieve if they choose to bat first. However, if they bat second, they have an 18-over window in which to reduce CSK’s total.

As for CSK, they have emerged victorious from their first 13 games seven times, most recently defeating Rajasthan Royals by five wickets. But for this important match, CSK also finds themselves in a do-or-die scenario.
