The Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders squared off in the 47th Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) match at Eden Gardens.
After managing to win the toss, the visitors chose to bat first on this brand-new surface. The choice did not, however, turn out as expected as they managed to score just 153/9 in their 20 overs, with Kuldeep Yadav leading the way with 35 runs from just 26 deliveries.

In response, the openers for the Kolkata Knight Riders were able to make the pitch appear as flat as possible, giving the opposing hitters the impression that there were no demons present at all during the first innings. As the team’s prolific opener, Phil Salt, amassed another fifty runs, it appeared as though the Delhi Capitals had no strategy at all. With 79 runs scored after the powerplay, Kolkata Knight Riders were able to take a commanding lead.

Shortly after the powerplay, Sunil Narine was trying to hit a six when the Kolkata Knight Riders bowled him out. On the first ball of the ninth over, Axar Patel dismissed Salt after he continued his attack in the eighth over. The hosts appeared to be in a strong position to chase down the score, even after losing the wicket.

Lizaad Williams eliminated Rinku Singh, who had moved up to No. 3. The ball shot into the night sky, but Kuldeep Yadav made a spectacular grab at deep third. The wrist spinner maintained his composure and made the catch. After that, Venkatesh Iyer entered the field to assist captain Shreyas Iyer in guaranteeing a seamless victory for the team. After seven overs, KKR needed just 24 runs to reach the second strategic timeout.

Together, they made sure the run-chase would not encounter any more difficulties. After successfully achieving the Delhi Capitals’ target with 21 balls remaining, the Kolkata Knight Riders won the game by seven wickets.
