Though I don't think he's ready for the World Cup, Abhishek is getting there:Yuvraj Singh

Abhishek Sharma is one of the most stunning additions to the Sunrisers Hyderabad roster. He has received a lot of notice for his high strike rate and exceptional six-hitting abilities. He has scored 288 runs in just eight games and is currently the team’s second-highest scorer. At the age of 23, he is competing for the Emerging Player of the Season title.

Yuvraj Singh, the southpaw’s guru, feels differently. He highlighted that the SRH opener needs to mature more before being considered for international selection. Yuvraj’s comments came ahead of the Indian team’s selection for the T20 World Cup 2024, which is set to take place in June in the United States and the West Indies.

“Abhishek is getting there, but I don’t believe he’s ready for the World Cup right now.

For the World Cup, we need to field an experienced team. Obviously, some players have played for India. Following the World Cup, he should be ready to play for India. That is what he should concentrate on. “The next six months will be critical for Abhishek,” Yuvraj stated, as reported by Cricbuzz.

Yuvraj needs to learn how to take singles and rotate strikes.

In his eight games, the southpaw has hit more sixes than fours, with 26 and 21 respectively. Although his strokes over long-on and mid-wicket have been spectacular, Yuvraj encouraged him to concentrate on mastering the art of strike rotation and understanding how to play against a strong bowler. The former India all-rounder was pleased by the young batter’s ability to hit the ball efficiently while maintaining a healthy strike rate of about 218.

“He has the ability to play big shots; the big sixes he has been hitting are very good, but I believe he needs to learn to take singles and rotate strike.” He must learn to play out bowlers who are performing well and target other bowlers. “I believe work needs to be done on that front,” Yuvraj continued.
