In match 39 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face off at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday, April 23. KL Rahul praised MS Dhoni for maintaining his personality even after attaining extraordinary success ahead of the explosive match.
The only Indian skipper to win three International Cricket Council (ICC) competitions is Dhoni. In addition, he has won five IPL captaincy awards. After participating in 538 matches, the 42-year-old has amassed more than 17,000 runs in international cricket. He is among the all-time great cricket players in terms of popularity and esteem.
The wicketkeeper-batter has, nevertheless, maintained his groundedness in the face of all the accolades and records, and this quality of his character has captivated many. Rahul, the captain of Lucknow, recently showered Dhoni with compliments for his ability to maintain composure and objectivity as well as his humility in the face of such incredible achievement in his legendary cricket career.
“I find it amazing how straightforward he has kept the game, which is on the field. However, in terms of personality, one thing that has always resonated with me off the field is how he has never felt the need to alter who he is. He is really authentic to who he is. Really humble and grounded, as everyone is aware. But it is extremely difficult to do when you’ve accomplished so much and been such a great captain,” Rahul said in response to a question about why he enjoyed MSD in a Star Sports interview.
“So many positive things have been said about you, and he’s always managed to maintain his objectivity and balance by keeping the good and the terrible at bay. He must wear a smile on his face at all times. He likes to play the game. You’ll always view him as the same person, win or lose,” he said in closing.

Notably, on Monday, April 19, Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul struck 82 runs off 53 balls to lead his team in pursuit of the 177-run mark. MS Dhoni, meanwhile, kept pushing the boundaries of his years, smashing 28 off only nine balls. As a result, this helped Chennai Super Kings record a respectable total.
