Sam Curran, the stand-in captain for the Punjab Kings, and Faf du Plessis of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru have both been punished for violating the IPL Code of Conduct.
Due to his over-rate offense at the Eden Gardens encounter against the Kolkata Knight Riders, Du Plessis was fined INR 12 lakh for violating the IPL Code of Conduct. The first over-rate offense of the season for Royal Challengers Bengaluru is Du Plessis’ fine.
However, under Article 2.8 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which deals with “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision,” Curran was fined up to 50% of his match earnings for a Level 1 offense.

It was verified in an IPL press release that Curran acknowledged the infraction and even accepted the match referee’s punishment. The IPL Code of Conduct’s item 2.8, which states that “(a) excessive, obvious disappointment with an umpire’s decision; (b) an obvious delay in leaving the wicket or resuming play; (c) shaking the head; (d) pointing or looking at the inside edge when given out LBW,” should be noted.
In the IPL 2024, RCB and PBKS are still having trouble.
In the current IPL (Indian Premier League) season, Royal Challengers Bengaluru has had difficulty thus far. So far in the tournament, RCB has played eight games; they have lost the other eight and only managed to win one match.
With just two points from eight games, their efforts have caused them to drop to tenth place in the standings. However, the Punjab Kings’ fate is comparable to that of RCB.
The Punjab Kings have only won two of their eight games and suffered six losses. They have four points from these games, which puts them in ninth place in the rankings. Even though RCB’s chances of qualifying for the playoffs are slim, PBKS remains optimistic about their chances of making it there under certain circumstances.
