IPL 2024: PBKS vs MI Match 33 Highlights: Unmissable video recap, turning points, match analysis, stats, and more

IPL 2024: On Thursday, April 18, Mumbai Indians play in Match 33 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh. Mumbai was given the opportunity to bat first, and thanks to a masterful blow from Suryakumar Yadav, they scored a massive 192/7 in the 20 overs permitted. With stats of 3/31 in four overs, Harshal Patel emerged as Punjab’s best bowler. Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma’s outstanding efforts helped Punjab reach the goal in reply, but they were eventually bowled out for 183 in 19.1 overs.

Gerald Coetzee and Jasprit Bumrah each took three wickets to help Mumbai. After their victory, MI moved up to the seventh position in the standings with three victories out of seven games and six points. However, Punjab dropped to ninth place after winning two of their last seven games and totaling four points.

Here are some of the game’s best moments:

1. The season’s second half-century is scored by Suryakumar Yadav

Following the removal of opener Ishan Kishan (8 off 8) in the third over, the 33-year-old advanced to the crease. As soon as he took on the bowlers during the powerplay and joined Rohit Sharma in an important 81-run partnership for the second wicket, Suryakumar made it clear what he wanted to achieve. He proceeded to use seven fours and three sixes to score 78 (53) points.

2. Jasprit Bumrah takes two wickets in his opening over to start.

The right-arm seamer carried on with his strong performance during the powerplay, taking two wickets in his opening over. Bumrah broke Rilee Rossouw’s stumps first, then caught Sam Curran off guard. In the thirteenth over, he came back to dismiss a strongly set Shashank Singh (41 off 25) by outwitting him with a slower ball. He completed the four overs with figures of 3/21.

3. Punjab’s pursuit is maintained by Ashutosh Sharma

With his team in a tight situation at 77/6 after 9.2 overs, the 25-year-old walked to the crease. Sharma and Shashank Singh had a vital partnership of 41 off 25 balls. Later, with Harpreet Brar (21 off 20 balls), they added 57 runs for the ninth wicket off 32 balls. In the end, he amassed an incredible 61 from 28 balls with the aid of two fours and seven sixes, but he was dismissed in the 18th over.
