Michael Slater, the legendary Australian cricket player, is embroiled in controversy over a suspected domestic abuse incident. Following his unsuccessful attempt to gain his freedom in the same case, the 54-year-old recently broke down in court.
Slater, who was arrested over the weekend, has been detained at the Maroochydore police watch house for the past few days since he requested release. A few of the accused’s crimes, including his alleged repeated verbal abuse—screaming obscenities and abuse—before smashing his way into the residence, were captured on CCTV cameras at the victim’s property. This is also worth noting.
When Michael Slater learned that his bail had been denied, he put his head in his hands and passed out while Correctional Services personnel escorted him back to the cells.
In addition, the ex-Australian cricket player is charged with other offences, such as breaking into a house with the intention of breaking in at night, choking, assault resulting in bodily harm, stalking, and not paying bond.
Remarkably, Legal Aid Attorney Michael Robinson recently informed the court that Slater intended to remain in a Sydney recovery centre in the event that he was freed from custody. Slater also behaved in an “impulsive, reckless, and uncharacteristic manner,” according to a letter his doctor sent to the court.

“He’ll be out of the court’s jurisdiction, in a mental rehab facility, basically doing something about addressing the (alleged) behaviour,” Robinson was cited by news.com.au as saying. “There is documented evidence in front of the court.”
The court determined that Slater would likely conduct the crimes again if bail was granted; hence, bail was denied. Slater is heard swearing and pleading with the complainant to open the door on the CCTV footage. Then, he is seen shattering a window before he is accused of hitting her.
Serjeant Newman informed the court, “We say the strength of the evidence is good. She’s pleading with him to stop repeatedly. She’s in a state of undress, cowering, clearly scared for her safety.”
