At the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium at Mullanpur, Rajasthan Royals traveled to Chandigarh to play Punjab Kings. The Rajasthan Royals chose to bowl first after winning the toss. Their selection proved to be wise since they were able to completely dominate the Punjab Kings’ middle-overs batting.
Despite having a wildly inconsistent innings, Punjab Kings managed to register a respectable 147/8 on the scoreboard. Their score would have been much lower if it weren’t for the late lower-order cameos from the Rajasthan bowlers, who were all over the opposition batters. Before the second innings, the Rajasthan Royals would have been favorites. In the meantime, Punjab Kings would have been trying to put on a strong bowling display as a team to secure the game’s crucial victory.

For this game, the Rajasthan Royals started with a different starting duo because they substituted their impact player for Kuldeep Sen. Tanush Kotian and Yashasvi Jaiswal stepped out to bat to open the score for the opposition. They made a good start with 56, which laid a solid basis for the remainder of the pursuit.
After a brilliant ball from Liam Livingstone ended Kotian’s brief stint of 24 runs from 31 balls, he left the field. Sanju Samson, the captain, joined Jaiswal at the crease in an attempt to easily wrap things up. But both hitters had to leave after Kagiso Rabada’s magnificent spell claimed two wickets.

With 49 runs needed from 30 balls, the match was in a precarious position. Hitter-in-form Riyan Parag was forced to leave the field after only 23 runs after failing to raise the stakes in the final overs. Dhruv Jurel, the wicketkeeper for Team India, was removed after scoring just six runs off of eleven balls, demonstrating his lack of effort.
The responsibility fell on Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell of the West Indies to lead their team home from an unlikely situation. Although their aggressive approach helped them approach the total, the former was forced to leave while making the crucial shot. Sam Curran took wickets for Powell and Keshav Maharaj with a masterful penultimate over of bowling.
The equation ultimately came down to 10 runs from the final over that Harshal Patel was going to deliver. Hetmyer put the away side in a commanding position with a six off the third ball and a double off the fourth. With the sixth delivery, Hetmyer struck for a six, sealing the victory for the team.
