The Indian Premier League 2024’s 27th game saw Punjab Kings host the top-seeded Rajasthan Royals. Mullanpur, Chandigarh’s Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, is the venue of the match. The decision to bowl first by the away team, who had won the toss, was, to put it mildly, intriguing.
Both teams made several significant adjustments, the most significant of which was the Punjab Kings captain missing play because of a niggle. The Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler and Ravichandran Ashwin, meanwhile, were unable to play due to injuries. The first inning was being played on a slow pitch, which gave the spinners some time.

Punjab Kings were in serious danger after Prabhsimran Singh and Bairstow had to leave shortly after the powerplay. But Punjab’s hitters had scored 50 runs by the end of nine overs.
Sam Curran, who only managed six runs from ten balls, likewise had a brief stay at the wicket. Jitesh Sharma and breakout player Shashank Singh stepped out to bat together; however, Singh was unable to carry on his batting exploits and left the field after only nine runs.

In their eight overs, Keshav Maharaj and Kuldeep Sen surrendered just 58 runs while taking three wickets apiece in the middle overs. Yuzvendra Chahal, a leg-spinner, also claimed a wicket during his innings, while Avesh Khan managed to claim two wickets.

The middle overs of the innings gained some pace because of Jitesh Sharma’s brief appearance of 29 runs off 24 balls. During the final overs, Liam Livingstone and impact player Ashutosh Sharma collaborated in the middle. But in the eighteenth over, the former was run out, so he was unable to stay long at the crease. After being ordered to bat first, Punjab Kings eventually posted a score of 147/8 on the scoreboard.
