Michael Vaughan predicts Rohit Sharma's move after the 2024 Indian Premier League: "I see him in Chennai."

In the same podcast, Michael Vaughan expressed his belief that Rohit Sharma ought to have taken the lead even after Hardik arrived and that there was a deficiency of communication among the management. He believed that not many people would decline the opportunity to serve as MI’s skipper. It would have made more sense to name Rohit MI’s skipper and kept Hardik informed for the ensuing years.

Following the drama surrounding the transfer of the captaincy to Hardik Pandya, the former captain of the Gujarat Titans, upon his return to the Mumbai Indians, there has been conjecture regarding Rohit Sharma moving to a different franchise. The Chennai Super Kings have been a popular choice, especially since many believe that this IPL season would be the final one for veteran player MS Dhoni.

The hypothesis put up by a number of MI and Rohit supporters might very well come true, with one legend leaving the team and another one taking his place. Former English cricketer Michael Vaughan discussed the similar dilemma on the BeerBiceps podcast. Vaughan believed that transferring the leadership responsibilities to Ruturaj Gaikwad might only be a temporary fix, and that Rohit might be a candidate to assume the job starting in the upcoming season with Dhoni’s departure.

“Is Rohit Sharma planning to visit Chennai? Take Dhoni’s place? This year, Gaikwad is leading the team, and next year, it could just be an act of holding place for Rohit. On the BeerBiceps podcast, Vaughan stated, “I see him in Chennai.”

In response, podcast presenter Ranveer Allahbadia said that it would be heartbreaking if that came to pass. Because Rohit has already played for the now-defunct Deccan Chargers from 2008 to 2010, Ranveer felt it would be preferable if he joined the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

That, very honestly, would be devastating. Fans of MI would be devastated by that. Ranveer remarked, “It would be romantic if he went to Sunrisers Hyderabad; he played for Deccan Chargers.”

Rohit carrying as MI captain would have been the prudent course of action: Michael Vaughan

“Who is going to refuse the invitation to skipper the Mumbai Indians? He’s been assigned a role that any Indian cricket player would want to have. All I can say is that the message wasn’t clear. Personally, I would have taken Rohit’s headgear. With Hardik in mind for the next year or two, Rohit would have made more sense to continue as MI captain, according to Vaughan.
