On Thursday, April 11, at the storied Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) hitter Rajat Patidar displayed his skills in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) match versus the Mumbai Indians (MI). Upon being ordered to bat first, RCB suffered early blows when Will Jacks and Virat Kohli were removed from the game in the space of four overs.
Still, Faf du Plessis and Rajat Patidar held their ground and stabilized the RCB’s innings at two down. Before the MI skipper delivered two consecutive wides, Patidar showed off his extraordinary big-hitting ability by hitting Hardik Pandya for a six into the long-on area on the fifth delivery of the tenth over. It is noteworthy that at that moment, RCB was at 89/2.

The replay showed that there had been no touch with the bat or glove, therefore the hitter was safe against Jasprit Bumrah. MI chose to review a caught-behind appeal against Patidar in the next over. After hitting two straight sixes off Gerald Coetzee’s delivery in the 12th over, the 30-year-old reached his half-century in just 25 balls, which included four maximums and three boundaries. Sadly, the next delivery ended his innings; it was a short ball that was intended for the body, but the hitter got the advantage.

In his first half-century of the season, Faf du Plessis scored.
Faced with MI in the ongoing IPL 2024, RCB captain Faf du Plessis led his team from the front, scoring his first half-century. On the 14th over’s penultimate delivery, the South African mastermind scored his fifty runs in thirty-three balls. Having shared 50 runs for the third wicket with Rajat Patidar, he produced a fantastic knock.
Jasprit Bumrah, MI’s best bowler, ended the opening batsman’s innings in the seventeenth over, but he did not finish. Having amassed 61 off 40 deliveries, comprising three maximums and four boundaries, he left RCB at 153/5.
