On Monday, April 8, at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by seven wickets to get back on the winning track in the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024).
After being ordered to bat first, the visitors were only able to muster 137/9 in the 20 overs that were allowed, with captain Shreyas Iyer leading the way with 34 (32). Ravindra Jadeja, Mustafizur Rahman (2/2) and Tushar Deshpande were the standout ball players for CSK.
Ruturaj Gaikwad’s outstanding half-century helped CSK chase down the mark in 17.4 overs in response. In addition to him, two more important players were Shivam Dube (28 off 18) and Daryl Mitchell (25 off 19). After their victory, CSK moved up to the fourth position in the standings with three victories from five games, while KKR held onto second place despite dropping their opening encounter following three straight victories.
Here are some of the game’s best moments:
1. Ravindra Jadeja encircles KKR batsmen with a web
KKR recovered well in the powerplay thanks to a 56-run partnership between Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Sunil Narine after losing their opener, Philip Salt, on the opening ball of the game. Ravindra Jadeja, a left-arm spinner, was summoned into the attack by captain Ruturaj Gaikwad as soon as he sensed another attack from the KKR batting machine. In just four balls, he took out Sunil Narine, catching him at long last after having already removed Raghuvanshi from the game with his first ball.
In his second over, Jadeja removed Venkatesh Iyer, who was having trouble, by having him hole out to deep mid-wicket. The left-arm spinner took three wickets while conceding just eighteen runs in his four overs.

2. With frequent strikes, Tushar Deshpande monitors the run flow.
Taking out Philip Salt with the opening ball of the game, the right-arm seamer gave CSK a great start. In order to remove the dangerous Rinku Singh (9 off 14), who chopped one back onto his stumps, he returned once again in the 17th over. Andre Russell (10 off 10), who holed out too long, was most decisively defeated by Deshpande. With figures of 3/33 in four overs, the 28-year-old was declared out.
