In an intense match at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Pat Cummins led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to an incredible victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by a commanding six-wicket margin, energizing the home crowd. Coach at SRH and former Australian cricketer Tom Moody was in awe of Cummins’ unconventional style of captaincy.
Primarily recognized for his exceptional bowling skills in Test and ODI cricket, Cummins demonstrated his leadership abilities during the IPL 2024 match, taking many by surprise with his tactical choices. Moody made a comparison between Cummins’ strategy and the renowned MS Dhoni’s.
The one aspect of Cummins that I find appealing is that he resembles MS Dhoni.

The notable thing about Cummins’ initial choice was to give the ball to Abhishek Sharma rather than seasoned player Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Moody’s praised Cummins’ innovative thinking and noted his propensity for making unusual decisions that frequently have unexpected results.
Similar to Abhishek Sharma. Considering the alternatives they could have chosen, it was a somewhat strange choice. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is perhaps the greatest new ball bowler in IPL history. For left-handers, you have an off-spinner. Markram seems like the obvious choice. There were other alternative paths he may have taken. All eyes will be on Cummins and his creative leadership to lead SRH to more victory in the competition as they get ready to play Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh on April 9.
