Nicholas Pooran of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) is a top player, comparable to Heinrich Klaasen of Sunrisers Hyderabad, according to former England captain and world champion Eoin Morgan. In the current Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), which is being played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, on April 2, the wicketkeeper-batter struck an explosive 40* off 21 deliveries against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). His remarks followed this performance. Notably, his knock made it possible for the team to defeat the hosts by 28 runs.
When it came to batting down the order, Morgan noted that Pooran had been just as good with Klaasen. The former player claimed that the 28-year-old West Indian batsman exudes confidence at the wicket and that whatever he touches turns to gold.

While the strength he produces is one thing, his talent is quite astounding. While it is true that he works out frequently, Morgan told Star Sports that while he may not have the same physique as Marcus Stoinis, his ball-hitting is amazing to behold.

LSG was made to bat first, and they quickly got off to a great start. Quinton de Kock and captain KL Rahul put on a 53-run partnership until Glenn Maxwell removed the latter for 20 runs. The South African kept hitting hard, but in the 17th over, Reece Topley sent him back to the pavilion. In just 56 deliveries, he amassed 81 runs, with eight boundaries and five maximums. Later, LSG scored a competitive total of 181 runs thanks to Nicholas Pooran’s 21-ball 40*.

The RCB batting struggled and was bowled out for 153 runs in 19.4 overs while trying to reach the 182-run target. LSG finished with fantastic numbers of 3/34, with Mayank Yadav being their standout bowler. With the help of three fours and as many sixes, RCB’s Impact player Mahipal Lomror led the home team in scoring (33 off 13 balls).
