At the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on April 2, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 28 runs, becoming the first team in the 2024 Indian Premier League to bowl their opponents out. RCB lost all of their wickets despite scoring 153 runs, but Lucknow’s 182-run target held firm. IPL analyst for JioCinema Eoin Morgan talked about the phenomenal emergence of Mayank Yadav, the speedster, on Match Centre Live (3/14).
On whether he is interested in setting speed records, Mayank Yadav says, “I focus more on taking wickets and helping the team win than I do on speed. I do, however, constantly remember that I have to bowl deliveries with some pace behind them. I’m usually curious about the fastest speed after a game, but throughout the competition, my attention is solely on my bowling.”
Mayank Yadav also talked about whether he had ever been told to forgo speed in favour of precision, saying, “No, not really.
Every bowler I spoke with in Delhi, including Ishant Sharma and Navdeep Saini, advised me to play at my own pace if I wanted to attempt anything new. It should be within my speed range if I wish to add a new skill, and I shouldn’t need to add any that will hinder my speed.”

Mayank Yadav hit Cameron Green at a speed of 156.7 kmph. Eoin Morgan said, “We built him up and he delivered that ball in particular.” Not just the quickness but also the precision in that, to profit from another error committed today by a young, skilled batter who plays for a foreign country. Though it’s difficult to believe, he has undoubtedly increased his stock.”
