IPL analyst Shane Watson of JioCinema talked about Philip Salt (30 runs) and Sunil Narine (47 runs, 1/40), while Shreyas Iyer (39 runs), the captain of KKR, spoke exclusively on Match Centre Live.
In the first away victory of the 2024 Indian Premier League, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) upset the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by seven wickets on Friday at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. With 19 deliveries remaining, KKR managed to surpass RCB’s 183-run objective.
“Due to the size of the think tank, everything is going pretty well. Regarding information sharing and wicket analysis, everyone’s contributions have been exactly on point. “We have excellent communication at the moment,” he remarked, referring to the Kolkata Knight Riders’ leadership and the support of its think tank.
When asked to select between Andre Russell as a death bowler and Sunil Narine as an opener, Iyer responded, “You can’t choose because you’re talking about bowling at the death on one end and opening on the other.” They are both fantastic and very helpful assets to the club since they can make up for poor hitting performances with the bat. For our crew, this is a huge plus.”
Regarding Sunil Narine, Shane Watson said:
“While I believe it may be wishful thinking for him to make 500 more appearances, there’s no denying that he is and has been a match-winner his entire career. He usually shows up for KKR with the ball in hand. However, when he bats like this for KKR or any other team he has played for, his dynamic striking of quality balls really quickly takes the opposition out of the game. Their ability to press forward and chase these runs with 3.1 overs remaining was largely fueled by 47 off 22 balls.”

Regarding Philip Salt and the KKR batting, Watson said: “Those opening three overs had some really nice balls at the top of the stumps and some really good cricket shots. However, because of Philip Salt in particular, the bowlers started to make mistakes after he hit the first few boundaries; they altered their pace and became a little too full. At the conclusion of the powerplay, that’s when they could profit even more. When your best balls are still reaching the boundary during an opposition bowling attack, you are really under pressure. That demonstrates Philip Salt’s ability to get things started and Sunil Narine’s ability to step in when necessary.”
