Virat Kohli becomes the first Indian to break the 12,000-run T20 barrier in the IPL in 2024.

Virat Kohli has been out for a considerable amount of time. He may not chase records, but the records, in turn, pursue him. The hitter is showing off his hitting prowess against Chennai Super Kings in the season opening at Chepauk as he returns for the Indian Premier League 2024.

In his quest for a comeback, Virat Kohli passed another significant mark as he reached the 12,000 run mark in Twenty20 cricket.

It’s important to remember that the former captain of India is the only player in the IPL to have amassed more than 7000 runs. In the 2016 Indian Premier League, he put up an incredible 973 runs in one season, making it a noteworthy performance. He continues to maintain the record for the season’s biggest run aggregator in a league with substantial revenue.

The elite Indian hitter has taken a break from playing cricket. The last time he played was in the January T20I series versus Afghanistan. The batter pulled out at the last minute and was unavailable for the entire series, even though he was meant to be called up to the squad to play England in the Test series. After a two-year break, the Run Machine returned to the T20I arena with the Afghanistan series.

The former Royal Challengers Bengaluru player may miss the upcoming T20 World Cup, therefore the IPL 2024 would be important for him. According to sources, the selectors are not too enthusiastic to include him for the major tournament because of the way his style of play is suited to surfaces in the United States and the West Indies.
