The Indian Premier League (IPL) will kick off its 17th season on Friday, March 22. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the reigning champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will square off in the opening game of the IPL 2024 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. The lucrative league does, however, come with some compromises this season because the Indian general elections fall during the IPL schedule.
The IPL governing body has therefore chosen to hold the most recent tournament in two stages. The BCCI has released the first phase’s timetable; the second phase’s is still pending. The home-away structure will be maintained for the 21 games that will be played during the league’s inaugural round in 12 different locales. The period starts on March 22 and ends on April 7.
There were rumors that the United Arab Emirates might host the second half of the 2024 Indian Premier League. Arun Dhumal, the chairman of the Indian Premier League, and Jay Shah, the honorary secretary, have refuted the rumors, stating that the league will remain in India and follow the Lok Sabha Election procedures.
