On Sunday, February 18, the legendary MS Dhoni of India and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were selected to lead the all-time greatest Indian Premier League (IPL) squad. Interestingly, the team was established to commemorate the success of the world’s most prestigious T20 League, which debuted in 2008. On February 20, 2024, the day the T20 extravaganza’s first-ever auction took place, the IPL will celebrate its 16-year anniversary.
At the first IPL auction, Dhoni sold for an incredible USD 1.5 million to CSK, making him the most expensive player. The batsman from Ranchi, who guided CSK to a record-tying five trophies during his tenure, has subsequently written a magnificent chapter in the history of the competition and left a lasting legacy for future generations.
About seventy journalists participated in the selection process for the all-time greatest IPL team, which includes former cricket players Wasim Akram, Matthew Hayden, Tom Moody, and Dale Steyn.
Regarding MS Dhoni’s greatness, former Australian cricketer Tom Moody stated that his ability to lead speaks volumes because he has won the Indian Premier League with both mediocre and excellent lineups.

Star batsman Virat Kohli of India was also selected, along with Chris Gayle, to open the innings in addition to MS Dhoni. There were two all-rounders in the middle order, Sahne Watson and Ravindra Jadeja, and there were luminaries like Suresh Raina and AB de Villiers.
IPL’s top wicket taker, Yuzevndra Chahal, and Ravichandran Ashwin made up the spin department, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah were selected as the two seamers. Stephen Fleming, the head coach, selected David Warner, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Sunil Narine as impact substitutes.
