Chairman Arun Singh Dhumal says the Indian Premier League would return in 2024.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 schedule remains uncertain due to a potential conflict with the Lok Sabha elections in India, creating suspense and anticipation. Reports indicate that the lucrative league is anticipated to commence on March 22. However, the tournament’s host has not yet been determined.

IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal has put an end to all the conjectures by confirming that the tournament will be held in India. The BCCI will collaborate with the government to finalize the schedule. In addition, he stated that the timetable for the 17th edition of the tournament will be disclosed shortly after the release of the general election schedule.

“We will collaborate with the Indian government and agencies to ensure that the league is held in India. We are awaiting the announcement of the general election schedule, after which we will make appropriate plans. This includes determining which state will host each game during the election period,” stated Arun Dhumal, as reported by the Times of India.

Additionally, Arun Singh Dhumal did not provide a specific date for the start of the tournament, but indicated that it is expected to commence towards the end of March.

“The IPL is expected to commence in late March, while the general elections are scheduled for April. We will collaborate with the government to find a solution,” he stated.

The Indian Premier League tournament in 2024 will consist of a total of 74 matches.

IPL 2024 will consist of 74 matches, including the four playoffs. The tournament will be divided into two phases due to the general elections. After winning their fifth trophy in 2023 by defeating Gujarat Titans in an exciting final, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), under the direction of MS Dhoni, will defend their title in the following edition.

It is anticipated that the forthcoming season will be the final one for CSK captain MS Dhoni, who aims to say goodbye to the tournament in a remarkable manner by guiding his team to a historic sixth title in the upcoming edition.
