Following the tremendous success of the Women’s Premier League’s (WPL) debut season in 2017, the cricket community is eagerly awaiting the start of the league’s second season.
The Mumbai Indians, the winners of the tournament last year after a seven-wicket victory over the Delhi Capitals in the final, have revealed their WPL 2024 shirt. Renowned designer Monisha Jaising is the creator of the stylish jersey. The jersey nevertheless has the classic blue and gold color scheme that Mumbai Indians are used to.
The blue tones of the peacock’s neck and breast feathers, which exhibit a distinctive color and size gradient, served as the model for the jersey’s print. The stem, which is the center portion of the feather and falls into the coral-brown color spectrum, serves as the inspiration for the coral-peach color. The natural geometric and color gradient found on the peacock’s neck and breast feathers, the Mumbai Indians claimed in an official release, served as inspiration for the gradient design.
In the WPL 2024 season opener against the Delhi Capitals on February 23 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Harmanpreet Kaur and company will be wearing the new jersey. On the Mumbai Indians’ official website, the player edition jersey is available for purchase for Rs 3,999.
Mumbai qualified for the Eliminator last year by winning six of their eight games during the tournament’s round-robin stage. With 332 runs from 10 innings at an average of 66.40 and a strike rate of 140.08, England all-around player Nat Sciver-Brunt emerged as the team’s top scorer. Hayley Matthews (271 runs) and Harmanpreet (281 runs) also had impressive campaigns.
With 16 wickets from 10 matches at an average of 12.62, the latter also emerged as the tournament’s joint-highest wicket-taker. For her all-around achievements, the West Indies captain was named Player of the Series.
In order to help the team win the championship, the seasoned trio of Hayley, Sciver-Brunt, and Harmanpreet would like to motivate the younger players on the side.
