A prominent member of the Indian cricket administration, Niranjan Shah, spoke candidly about the forthcoming renaming of Rajkot Stadium in his memory. A number of other subjects were discussed, including some interesting facts about Lalit Modi.
Niranjan Shah reflected on the Lalit Modi era and praised Modi’s pivotal role in forming the BCCI. Shah emphasized how the IPL’s introduction changed the game and called it Modi’s idea that went above and beyond. He stressed the democratic process and the full support given to him at the IPL’s inception, attributing the success of the league to Lalit Modi.
“What Lalit has done cannot be disregarded. His contribution to the IPL’s inception was revolutionary, and I don’t want to delve into the current situation. When this concept was put up, I was the BCCI secretary, and we all supported Lalit wholeheartedly. We granted him complete freedom during the democratic process. He gave birth to the IPL, which was his kid. Obviously, we had no idea at the time how huge of a success it would become. Now that we know. In an exclusive interview with RevSportz, he praised Lalit for the significant change that the IPL has brought about.

He offered his thoughts on the prospect of having the Rajkot stadium named in his honor. Shah thanked the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) for their unwavering support over the course of four decades and characterized the journey as an inspiring story of the little team’s growth into a major player in local cricket.
“I express my gratitude to the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) members for their nearly forty years of support and encouragement. We were a little unit, so it is a story of accomplishment that we have grown over time to become a well-known one for so many reasons. We are a significant player in domestic cricket and a Test venue. Gaining the Ranji Trophy is the greatest accomplishment. We built the infrastructure that made this possible. We have about 20–30 practice pitches in addition to five excellent grounds. Our players that rose to prominence in India are Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravindra Jadeja. I’ve achieved our SCA’s goals,” he continued.
