In the first Indian Veteran Premier League, Suresh Raina will lead VVIP UP.

A recent development for fans of cricket is that former India and Chennai Super Kings star batsman Suresh Raina will be returning to the game as the captain of VVIP Uttar Pradesh in the Indian Veteran Premier League (IVPL).

With Raina donning the yellow jersey once more and representing his own team, the event, which is slated to take place from February 23 to March 3, 2024, promises to be a nostalgic trip for him. Warmly referred to by CSK supporters as “Chinna Thala,” Raina is poised to captain VVIP Uttar Pradesh and display his potent batting and leadership abilities.

With great enthusiasm, Suresh Raina released a statement expressing his happiness at being a part of the Indian Veteran Premier League.

“Good day to all of you. As a member of Team VVIP Uttar Pradesh in the Indian Veteran Premier League, my name is Suresh Raina, and I’m ecstatic to be involved. This is my second opportunity to play with experienced cricketers,” Raina stated in a statement, which My Khel cited.

Former Australian all-rounder Dan Christian and former IPL champion Rajat Bhatia will be joining Raina at VVIP Uttar Pradesh. In the IVPL, which will be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun, the team hopes to have a significant impact thanks to their combined expertise and skill set.

The Board for Veteran Cricket in India (BVCI) and 100 Sports jointly organize the IVPL, in which cricket legends like Herschelle Gibbs, Chris Gayle, Munaf Patel, and Sehwag compete. Acting President of the BVCI and Chairman of the IVPL, Shri Praveen Tyagi, expressed his enthusiasm and predicted that the veteran players will give veteran cricket in India a new lease on life.

“Indian veteran cricket will receive a new lease on life from the veteran players. Suresh Raina is a wonderful addition to the IVPL family, and the fans will no doubt be thrilled to see him back on the field,” the player stated.

The competing teams—Raja Legends, Telangana Tigers, Chhattisgarh Warriors, Red Carpet Delhi, VVIP Uttar Pradesh, and Mumbai Champions—are expected to produce a thrilling match of cricket. The Mumbai Champions, Telangana Tigers, and Red Carpet Delhi will be led, respectively, by former India opener Virender Sehwag, Chris Gayle of the West Indies, and Herschelle Gibbs.

Fanscode, DD Sports, and the Eurosport channel will all be airing live cricket action. Fans will soon be able to purchase tickets to see the legendary Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in action and experience the live cricket extravaganza firsthand.
