Finally speaking about the "drunk incident," Glenn Maxwell says, "It affected my family a little bit more than it affected me."

Star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell of Australia said that his family may have been more affected by the “drunk incident” than he was. He was hospitalized after being unconscious prior to the T20I series against the West Indies. The incident occurred in late January while he was attending a late-night party in Adelaide.

Regarding the event, the 35-year-old expressed his opinion that it was “less than ideal, and the timing.” After scoring the fastest T20 century on Australian territory and leading his country to victory by 34 runs, Glenn Maxwell made his remarks. In the second Twenty20 International match against the Cambodian nation, he struck an undefeated 120 off just 55 deliveries, helping them to win the series as well.

The West Australian cited Glenn Maxwell as saying, “I think probably it affected my family a little bit more than it affected me.”

“I was aware I had the week off. It is also evident that the timing of the occurrence was not optimal. However, I was aware that I was taking that week off from the game. Following my return, I resumed my gym routine and running, and I felt incredibly rejuvenated. And all of my attention has been on preparing for this T20 series and the future. We are aware that the T20 World Cup is approaching quickly and that we have four international matches left before it. And I simply try to make sure I’m ready for that tournament as much as possible,” the 35-year-old continued.

The Australian head coach, Andrew McDonald, had previously said that Maxwell needed to “hold up his end of the bargain” since he had been drinking. But the all-rounder acknowledged his appreciation for McDonald’s, selectors’ chairman George Bailey’s, and support personnel’s assistance. “Everyone, including the coach and Bails, has been exceptional,” Glenn Maxwell continued.
