Following a protracted injury layoff, Indian batter Prithvi Shaw made a spectacular comeback to the domestic scene. Shaw hasn’t played for a number of months due to a knee injury he had during his time with County Cricket in 2023.
But when he returned to represent Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy for his second match, the 24-year-old produced an incredible display, hitting 159 runs off of 185 deliveries to give Mumbai an early advantage in their four-day contest against Chhattisgarh.
Shaw stated that he is only concentrating on winning the Ranji Trophy with Mumbai and is not currently considering making a possible comeback to the Indian team when questioned about it.
“I want to stay in the here and now and am not thinking too far ahead. No expectations exist, and I’m just glad to be playing cricket again. I just want to give it my all because I recently returned from an injury. In an interview with The Indian Express, Prithvi Shaw stated, “My goal is to win the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai, and I’m trying to achieve that by contributing as much as I can going ahead.”

Shaw also discussed how unusual it was to return to the field following a protracted five-month sabbatical. He also disclosed that, having spent a considerable amount of time on the field, his anxiety had subsided.
“I wanted to do well, but I had doubts about my ability to bat in my style at one point. Kaise kheloonga (how would I play), when I would return, and if it would be positively or negatively. These were the ideas that were circulating. However, things returned to normal once I was gone for a few hours,” Shaw remarked.
“When I resumed my batting, I felt a little ajeeb, or odd, but I wasn’t nervous. Nevertheless, I was encouraging myself that things would work out by simulating a match. “I had good body language,” he continued.
