Umpire makes an amusing mistake before quickly correcting it, leaving players in splits for AUS-W vs. SA-W.

Currently in Australia, South Africa is taking on Alyssa Healy and company in a multi-format series. The Australians easily won the opening One-Day International (ODI) match, defeating a meek target of 106 with eight wickets and 31 overs remaining after winning the Twenty20 International series 2-1.

At the North Sydney Oval on Wednesday, February 7, the two teams will play the second one-day international. Australia chose to bowl first after winning the toss. The 24th over of South Africa’s batting featured an intriguing occurrence. On the last ball of Ashleigh Gardner’s over, Sune Luus attempted to play a sweep shot. But the ball got by her bat and thumped into her front pad.

Umpire Claire Polosak did not budge despite the Australians’ appeal. To review the call, the side fielding the call decided.

Luus appeared to have been struck outside the off-stump line, according to ball tracking. The TV umpire urged Claire to stick with her initial decision not to go out. To the shock of the Australian fielders, the latter received the command and, instead of signaling not out, raised her finger.

Nevertheless, she quickly realized her error and gave the not-out signal while grinning cheekily. Splits also befell the Australian players. Luus eventually lost for 19 off 33 balls after Annabel Sutherland caught him off of Gardner’s bowl. Following Luus’s departure, the Proteas fell to 117/4 in 25.2 overs.

Australia’s women are tightening their grip on South Africa’s following a ferocious start in the second ODI.

The tourists had already lost the wickets of Laura Wolvaardt, Tazmin Brits, and Anneke Bosch within the first 16 overs of the second one-day international of the series. Notably, the captain of South Africa was also out for a duck in the opening over. Throughout her innings of 21 off 41 balls, the Brits found it difficult to rotate the strike, and Sutherland eventually sent her packing.

Anneke Bosch, on the other hand, looked impressive as she scored 44 runs off 46 balls, hitting nine fours and one six. But in the sixteenth over, Sutherland caught her and she tumbled to Gardner.
