Bangladesh will be the host country for a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka in March.

In March 2024, Bangladesh will play host to Sri Lanka for two World Test Championship (WTC) matches. For the first time in the series, Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka will not hold a Test match; instead, Sylhet International Cricket Stadium and Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram will host the matches. The Australian women’s visit to Bangladesh, which runs through the end of March, will use the stadium.

ESPNcricinfo reports that on March 1, the day of the present BPL final, Sri Lanka will arrive in Bangladesh.

The Lankan Lions will play a three-match T20I series before the two-match Test series, and then ODIs. The ODIs will be held at Chattogram on March 13, 15, and 18, while the T20I matches will be held in Sylhet on March 4, 6, and 9. The third ODI of the series will start at 10:00 a.m. local time (10:30 a.m. IST), while the first two were day-and-night events.

The two teams will return to Sylhet following the end of the ODI series, with the first test scheduled to start on March 22. The second match is scheduled to start on March 30, following a three-day hiatus. Following that, it is anticipated that the players from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will join their respective Indian Premier League teams.

However, Sri Lanka would not release Mushtafizur Rahman as quickly as Matheesa Pathirana and Maheesh Theekshana, who will play for the Chennai Super Kings in the 2019 season. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) released its players late in the last two tournament editions, which sparked a lot of controversy. The same could happen again, and in that case, CSK would probably be without Rahman’s services for the first three to four games.

Notably, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan are now playing a one-off Test series. They will then host the visitors for a three-match ODI series before playing Twenty20 internationals.
