"Joe Root turns into Muthiah Muralidaran": Cricketer Aakash Chopra cautions against ranking flippers before of the second England Test

Cricketer Aakash Chopra :- India’s defeat against them in the first Test surprised everyone who thought the Rohit Sharma-led team would thrash the English team in subcontinental conditions. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has advised Team India and the BCCI not to select rank-turners for the second Test.

The 46-year-old, in a video posted to his YouTube channel, questioned the Indian hitters’ recent form and cautioned that a spin track would backfire on the home team.

Don’t get carried away with the idea that ‘we need turning pitches,’ just because your hitters (Team India) aren’t playing well. Cricketer Aakash Chopra said, “Your spinners and their [England] spinners will be equally effective when batters are not in form.”

A rank turner, according to Chopra, gives England’s spinners an equal opportunity to cause as much damage as the Indian assault. “It doesn’t really matter if the English spinners are inaccurate. On those kinds of tracks, Tom Hartley bowls like Bishan Pa and Joe Root becomes Muttiah Muralidaran,” Aakash Chopra continued.

A batting track, he added, might allow England’s hitters to assault at full tilt and wear down the Indian bowling. To counter England’s aggressive batting, Chopra has advised that India include Kuldeep Yadav.

“I agree that on a good surface, England will score runs quickly. however, he can play Kuldeep and maybe weave a web around the English hitters. Though I am not sure what India is thinking, I am praying for a decent  surface, Chopra said in closing.

After losing the first Test by a margin of 28 runs, India will play England in the second Test at Vizag. For India, which was unprepared for the English challenge, the defeat has served as a harsh reality check. Team India appears to be underdogs against a confident English team, with Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul out due to injuries and Virat Kohli missing for personal reasons.
