“We’re not scared to play every spinner.” – Brendon McCullum on England’s potential approach before the upcoming Test matches

"If the wickets maintain the same level of spin as observed in the first Test throughout the series, we will not hesitate to field a team consisting solely of spinners or a combination of our current players," stated McCullum.

"We're not scared to play every spinner." - Brendon McCullum on England's potential approach before the upcoming Test matches

Under the leadership of Ben Stokes, England made an impressive beginning to the present five-match Test series against India, emerging victorious against the hosts at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. England made a remarkable comeback and successfully defeated India in the encounter. It is noteworthy that England fielded three spinners and only one fast bowler, Mark Wood, in the first Test. Employing a team with a majority of spinners might be the best course of action, however, given the nature of the shifting ground.

Brendon McCullum, the head coach of England’s Test team, shared the same perspective. Brendon McCullum recently revealed that the team is willing to field a lineup consisting entirely of spinners in the forthcoming match against India. Brendon McCullum said that Shoaib Bashir, a fourth spinner, may be added to the team for the forthcoming game in Vizag, where the second Test of the series will take place.

“Bashir was clearly present with us at the camp in Abu Dhabi and he greatly impressed us with his impressive range of skills.” He is compatible with the group. “Similar to Tom Hartley, he also lacks significant first-class experience. However, we believe that his skill set could be beneficial in this situation,” Brendon McCullum stated during an interview with SENZ Radio.

“If the wickets maintain the same level of spin as observed in the first Test throughout the series, we will not hesitate to include either all spinners or a combination of our current players,” he further stated.

Brendon McCullum identifies a genuine indication of leadership.

In addition, head coach Brendon McCullum praised Ben Stokes’ leadership skills, as he effectively managed debutant Tom Hartley in the match and played a pivotal role in England’s remarkable victory over India.

“I believe Ben Stokes demonstrated exceptional leadership in the first inning by persisting with an extended spell of bowling against Tom Hartley, despite facing pressure from the Indian batters,” McCullum said.
