When the two batted together again after nine and a half years, the legendary Indian hitter Sachin Tendulkar and the seasoned off-spinner Muthiah Muralidaran of Sri Lanka turned back time. In particular, the former international cricket players were taking part in the One World One Family Cup Charity Match at the Sai Krishnan Cricket Stadium in Sathya Sai Grama, Bengaluru, on Thursday, January 18.
Sachin Tendulkar and Naman Ojha opened the One World innings together, giving their team a strong start as they chased a victory goal of 181.
As the fans moistened their lips to witness the epic duel, the most prolific batter in the history of international cricket squared off against the highest wicket-taker in cricket history in the eighth over.
Muralidaran was the one to emerge victorious, taking out Sachin Tendulkar with the opening ball. When he was a player, the right-handed hitter enjoyed taking on spinners. He came down the track to give the Sri Lankan spinner a blow to the head. But Tendulkar misjudged the moment and Mohammed Kaif caught him at long range.

Consequently, he had to go back to the pavilion with a score of 27 (15), and Muralidaran grinned broadly as he celebrated his wicket. Notably, in the MCC VS ROW match at the Lord’s in 2014, the off-spinner also removed him from the match. That time, Tendulkar failed to play a late cut, and the off-spinner tore up his stumps.
Tendulkar took a wicket in the opening session as well.
Tendulkar also claimed a wicket in the One World One Family Cup Charity Match, which was held in order to promote awareness of child healthcare and was arranged by the Sri Madhusudan Sai Global Humanitarian Mission. In his second over, the wrist-spinner removed Darren Maddy, who had a good setup, for a leg before wicket (lbw).

One Family, captained by Yuvraj Singh, finished with a score of 180/6 in their allotted 20 overs thanks to Maddy’s innings. In response, One World took 19.5 overs to reach the goal, led by Alviro Petersen’s 74 (50).
