The BCCI wants KL Rahul to step down, which adds to India's wicket keeping dilemma.

India will return to concentrating on the longest format following their three-game Twenty20 International series against Afghanistan. A fresh report claims that the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) wants to remove top player KL Rahul from his dual roles of wicketkeeping and batting. The team is scheduled to play England in a five-game Test series starting on January 25.

The higher-ups want KL Rahul to concentrate only on his batting because they believe it will help him manage his workload much better, especially considering the difficulties wicketkeepers face on turning Indian pitches.

Notably, during both Test matches between India and South Africa, KL Rahul retained the wickets.

Other talents, such as Ishan Kishan and KS Bharat, may have multiple options now that the wicketkeeper position has changed. If given the chance to participate, the five-game series against England could prove to be a terrific opportunity for both Ishan Kishan and Bharat, as the loss of Rishabh Pant from the squad has left a major hole.

With their next tasks, Team India hopes to achieve greatness.

Speaking of future matches, India is all ready to play a three-game Twenty20 international series against Afghanistan. The matchups between India and Afghanistan are scheduled for January 11, 14, and 17, respectively. India will play England in a five-game Test series after the T20I series.

After playing the Proteas in a multi-format series, the team recently came from South Africa. The Indian squad, which has two victories in four games following the Test series against South Africa, is ranked second in the World Test Championship (WTC).

Nonetheless, the Rohit Sharma-led team may have a strong potential for moving up the WTC rankings and remaining competitive if they host England in a five-game Test series. Not to be overlooked, England has nine points from five games, good for eighth place in the standings.
