The Afghanistan Cricket Board has rescinded the earlier sanctions against Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Fazal Haq Farooqi, and Naveen Ul Haq after conducting a comprehensive inquiry. These players will now be able to sign central contracts and take part in franchise leagues thanks to the amended sanctions, which also guarantee their complete dedication to their national teams and the interests of ACB.
After the players expressed their willingness to play for their country once more and made an unconditional approach to the ACB, the ACB launched a thorough inquiry. Following an assessment of the players’ initial position in light of current events and an acknowledgement of the significance of their inclusion on the national team, the designated committee forwarded its final recommendations to the board.
The updated recommendations replace the earlier ones that were placed on the players in relation to the same issue and outline a path of regulatory actions that are reasonable, practical, and effective:
1. Final Warning and Salary Deduction: Every player will be given one last written warning in addition to having a certain amount deducted from their monthly income and/or match fees.
2. Limited NOCs: Keeping the interests of ACB and the country first, ACB will severely evaluate issuing NOCs to deserving players.
3. Central Contract: ACB may award these players central contracts while closely observing their conduct and composure at events.
The chairman of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, Mirwais Ashraf, emphasized the players’ significant achievements for Afghanistan and said the changes were made with their value to the squad in mind. He wished for the players’ continued devotion to the team’s success and their ability to make Afghanistan proud.
“The players have definitely contributed to the team’s success and have best represented the nation in terms of their values,” he continued. Since we want them to represent the nation with the utmost decorum, we sincerely hope they refrain from causing similar annoyances in the future.
We are all subordinate to the ACB and the rules, so it’s critical that we follow them since nobody is exempt from them. Similar incidents would, however, be handled more rigorously because the reputation of Afghanistan Cricket and the organization are our top priorities. He went on.
In December, ACB postponed the contracts of Naveen ul Haq, Fazal Haq Farooqi, and Mujeeb Rahman.
The ACB chose to postpone their 2024 annual central contracts and to withhold their NOCs from Mujeeb Rahman, Fazal Haq Farooqi, and Naveenulhaq after they told the ACB earlier in December that they intended to be released from the central contracts.
