In Test cricket, former Australia captain Steve Smith has stated that he would like to open with Usman Khawaja. Head coach Andrew McDonald responded to Smith’s wish to open in Test matches by saying that all cricket players will be given consideration for the position. He went on to say that Smith has performed admirably at Nos. 3 and 4, which is why he is apprehensive about moving Smith up to the front of the order.

Andrew McDonald stated that he would be curious to see Green start the tests. The 42-year-old stated that although the all-rounder is underappreciated, he had the ability to be a successful red-ball opener.
“I believe that Cameron Green’s ability to perform at the test level is somewhat underestimated. Even though his cricket career is still young, we have seen what he is capable of in white-ball cricket. especially T20. He obviously possesses those gears. He is capable of playing both high and low, as we know. Depending on our strategy, he might be in our best lineup, McDonald stated.
