Deepti Sharma becomes the fourth Indian to reach the 100-wick mark in an ODI against Australia.

The seasoned all-rounder Deepti Sharma reached a noteworthy milestone on Tuesday, January 2, when he took 100 wickets for India in the WODIs during the third and final game against Australia at the venerable Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. She made her 86th appearance in the 50-over format when she accomplished this amazing record.

Deepti Sharma equaled the record of the famous Nooshin Al Khadeer by being the fourth Indian cricket player to attain a century of wickets in one-day internationals, surpassing Rajeshwari Gayakwad’s 99 wickets. In women’s ODIs, she now trails Jhulan Goswami (255) and Neetu David (141) in terms of most wickets taken for India. . Considering Litchfield’s outstanding 119-run innings and her significant 189-run opening combination with skipper Alyssa Healy, it was an important wicket.

Additionally, the all-rounder demonstrated her bowling ability in the second ODI by taking a career-high five wickets. Though it was short of three runs, this brilliant effort was vital in keeping the visitors to 258/8 in 50 overs. Notably, she also made history by being the first Indian bowler to record a five-for in an ODI against Australia.

At Wankhede, Litchfield and Healy sweep Australia clean.

Despite having a 2-0 advantage going into the series finale at Wankhede, Australia’s play was more dominant. Litchfield and Healy, who batted first, put on an enormous 189-run partnership. Later, the visitors achieved a target of 339 in 50 overs thanks to cameos by lower middle-order bats Ashley Gardner (30), Alana King (26*), and Annabel Sutherland (23).

The hosts didn’t appear to be in control of the pursuit when they lost Smriti Mandhana and Yastika Bhatia in the opening powerplay. Then, Georgia Wareham dumped Richa Ghosh and captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Eventually, Healy & Co. bundled out the Indians for 148 in the 33rd over, ending the series without a hitch. No Indian hitter could score even thirty runs. Litchfield received Player of the Series and Player of the Match awards for his outstanding performance throughout the series.
