Tuesday, January 2, at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, is the inconsequential third and final One-Day International (ODI) between Australia and India. The Women in Blue would have been quietly optimistic about their chances in the One-Day Internationals after they soundly trounced the Australians in the one-off Test match. But in the first ODI, Alyssa Healy and company got off to a fast start, easily defeating a 283-run goal with 21 balls remaining.
They won by six wickets. The second match was played more fairly. With a close three-run victory, the tourists maintained composure and took a commanding 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Prior to the third ODI, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur declared after the toss that young Mannat Kashyap would be making her debut, taking Sneh Rana’s place due to injury.
Following this disclosure, followers have shown a desire to learn more about the 20-year-old Mannat Kashyap.
In a 2022 match between India Under-19 and South Africa Under-19, she brought attention to herself by running out a batter who was backing up too far on the non-striker’s end. Mannat Kashyap competed for India at the Under-19 World Cup, which they won in January of last year. Although she didn’t start right away, she ended up with nine wickets from six games, including four against Scotland. In the key event, she took more wickets for India than anyone else save Parshavi Chopra.
Later in 2023, the left-arm spinner was crucial to the outcome of the ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup. She took the new ball against Bangladesh in the summit match and concluded with fantastic figures of 3/20 in four overs. During the 2024 Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction, the Gujarat Giants paid 10 lakh for the Patiala native. When she plays against one of the best teams in women’s cricket, she hopes to leave an impression in her debut for India.
