A cautious attitude for the New Year’s celebrations is suggested by the Indian squad.

A cautious attitude for the New Year's celebrations is suggested by the Indian squad.
It has been suggested that the Indian squad observe a low-key New Year celebration. Notably, the cricket players traveled to Cape Town for the second and final Test match of the series following a crushing loss to South Africa in the Boxing Day Test.

The team management has been urged to spend New Year Eve indoors with their individual families and with each other prior to that.

This advice is given in view of security issues in South African cities, where muggings, robberies, thefts, snatchings, and pickpocketings are among the frequent street crimes. Although Cape Town is still one of the safest cities in South Africa, players are cautioned to take standard measures, according to Cricbuzz.

Team India’s optional training session

On Saturday, December 30, India held a training session that was optional. Mukesh Kumar, who may play in the second Test of the series, was the main focus of the training session. Changes to the starting XI are anticipated because captain Rohit Sharma was unimpressed with rookie Prasidh Krishna in the opening game. The Bengal seamer, who has only participated in one Test match in his career, was also seen receiving advice from the 36-year-old.

In the nets, Mukesh bowled to Rohit for about 45 minutes. Even though all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin put in a lot of work, just one of them is anticipated to be included in the starting XI. For a considerable amount of time, both cricket players bowled to Rohit, with Jadeja appearing fully fit.

However, Shardul Thakur experienced a near-accident while batting. He was spotted wearing an ice pack sling after the ball struck his left shoulder during a throwdown. He did, however, finish the training session, although he will still be constantly watched.

Abhimanyu Easwaran appeared considerably more composed in the nets, but Yashasvi Jaiswal struggled mightily. The team management is more likely to support the rookie than the Bengals, though.
